Hi Everyone!
Today we wanted to share some thoughts on how our blogging year went in 2021
and some goals for 2022. We are now at the end of January, which is very
scary, but we hope you will still enjoy this slightly belated wrap-up.
In 2021, we published 36 posts in total. This is pretty good, we posted on
average roughly every 10 days. However, there was a lot of time when we didn't
post at all and our posts became increasingly just the monthly fact file. Many
of you enjoyed the fact file, and for the most part, we enjoyed writing it but
it became a bit of a chore by the end, hence the change we have made over to
top tips. We think it would be nice to change our monthly post every year, and
we will of course involve you in that just as we did this year.
Our best posting months were by far August and September, which is
understandable because we were on holiday for August and could schedule a lot
of posts for September! Something we want to work on for the rest of 2022 is
posting more evenly throughout the year. It is hard because we are all still
at school and that has to be a priority but we haven't been the best at
getting on with writing posts! We didn't post in June, but that's exam season
so that probably explains that!
We decided to have each editor share their favourite post to write!
ZB:
I loved
writing my house plant series towards the end of the year. House plants have
become a bit of a thing for me and I can't wait to share many updates and fun
house plant-related posts! You can read all my houseplant posts by
clicking here!
EBP:
I really enjoyed writing the
climate change post because I had to do some background research and I found it very interesting. I also enjoyed writing the
Amazon Rainforest series.
FP:
This year I have loved helping out with writing the monthly fact files
because I have been able to find out about a lot more different species I
didn't know about before. You can see all of our fact files from the whole
year by clicking here.
Our statistics were stable, with our dedicated group of followers! Thank
you so much for all of your support! The most viewed post was EBP's post on the IUCN, probably because we kept linking it whenever we mentioned the IUCN!
As for 2022, we want to definitely post more. It's something a lot of
bloggers say, and something we've said before, but I think we're all feeling
a bit of motivation to write new posts, especially with the arrival of our
new editor MK!
I personally also would love to find other nature bloggers. I have done
this with another blog I have and it's really helped me get more views and
comments! I want to make 2022 a positive year for our blog, hopefully
creating a more active space.
We will also continue running our Twitter, as another step to raise
awareness about our blog!
I think we can all agree that the last two years have been crazy and that's
impacted our blog too. After all, we could write more because we were at
home too and homeschooling. There is a clear spike in April when the UK was
in lockdown, and August, September and October were also good months as a
result of the summer holidays and a half term.
Overall, we had a good year in our blog but we definitely need to make an
effort to make 2022 better! As always, if you have any post ideas or just
want to chat with us, you can do so in the comments or via email. You can learn more here.
Thank you so much for being here and we'll be back soon!
